Final Website

After critique with the teachers on Monday, we are editing the website slightly. Taking out the green fade from the map and adding wave lines in the water instead to tie it into the flyer:

Also had to upsize the imagery to the photos line up with the title of the sections:

Surf Wax Packaging

Sketching:

First draft for packaging:
We decided to keep the whole packaging blue as this surf wax is to be handed out to those who come to the event so it will be for after and the blue is a positive colour in our project representing the cleaner waters so we want to keep the whole thing blue and rubbish free to represent our goal of cleaner waters.

So we printed it out and put it together...
And we realised after we put it together the back was upside down... :(

After feedback we have a few things to change: The smaller text should still be on straight lines to stay with the rest of the design style in the rest of the project. And the title looks awkward where it is.

Developments: Playing around with placement.

Website Development

Website Concept #1
This was our first concept for our website. It was hard organising the information on the page and it wasn't looking great so we switched to our other wireframe.

We prefer this concept with the longer page with all the information as we scroll down. We will use the lines as dividers between each section. The user will be able to scroll or click the links at the top of the page.

We changed the lines so that the rubbish disappears from the water as you scroll and the water changes colour from the toxic green to blue.

Added the map in to the 'get involved section'.

We decided to change the navigation of the website to a small bar across the top that can be fixed at the top of the page. It will also have the logos for LYC and sustainable coastlines. It looks cleaner and will be easier for the user to navigate.

Full website with fixed header navigation.

We needed to incorporate the idea of surfing more into our website so we incorporated this wee surfer, surfing down the page. We also added in pictures relating to the sections.

We also spaced out each segment a bit more so that on the screen, you can only see one section on the website so it looks cleaner. The line of the surfer needs to be thinner and arranged better so it doesn't interrupt the text.

After feedback in class, Phoebe noted that the map was difficult to tell which side was land or sea, so we just added a subtle, light green fade to the land side to make it easier to understand.

Final Development:

There a couple of minor changes to be made but its pretty much done :)

Week 2

Week 2:

For week 2 we began by generating small thumbnail sketches of objects relating to the beach, our target audience of surfers and pollution in the ocean.

We then began generating more thumbnail ideas for our poster and thought about ways we cold incorporate more of an idea of hosting an event to get people to come along to the beach clean up:

Once we had two ideas we put them on to the computer:
This idea was to show a group of people working together to show a community helping out at the beach whilst incorporating a surfing theme. This idea is more fun and child like.

These two posters are a more photographic approach showing what the future will hold if we dont clean up our beaches. If this is the idea we run with we will take photos at Lyall Bay.
This is a development from the future of our ocean idea, using hyperbole.
